Other Therapies

Is a recent therapeutic philosophy which allows the practitioner to combine bodywork techniques to provide the most appropriate treatment for each individual. It offers treatment for the whole body including arthritic conditions, sprains, RSI, postural and chronic problems. Some individuals come with aches and pains while others consult with more severe and acutely painful conditions. As well as physical therapies Osteomyology can encompass many different holistic systems, such as Naturopathy (the study of natural remedies including plants and supplements, diet and exercise).

Is used to help the body heal and gain internal balance, especially for the autonomic nervous system and hormonal system. It is especially useful for long term problems, immune system depletion (i.e. repeated colds), weak constitution, chronic fatigue and stress related problems. In addition it can assist in cases of digestive upset, IBS, anxiety, poor sleep or hormonal imbalances.

Russell May (D.O. Lic. Ostm. Reflexology ITEC, Independent Yoga teacher) received his Osteopathic Diploma in 1986 and qualified as a Reflexologist in 1994. More recently he has changed his registration to The Association of Osteomyology giving him greater freedom to practice the wide range of techniques and therapies he has studied. He has further completed courses in ergonomics, diet and exercise, has been practising Yoga for more than 25 years and has qualified to teach Yoga through the Iyengar School which focusses on the correct alignment of the spine and body. Alexander Technique

Alexander Technique is a practical method of re-education that enables us to unlearn the habitual patterns of posture and movement that aggravate discomfort and pain.

Contrary to popular thought, it is not about sitting up and pulling your shoulders back! It consists of changing the way we think just before we move. Our bodies are then obliged to function to their best advantage in everyday activities such as walking, sitting, standing and bending, as well as when performing more specific activities such as driving a car, using a computer, digging in the garden and playing a sport or musical instrument.

It has repercussions in many areas of life and has the potential to increase poise, effortlessness, clarity and freedom.

The Alexander Technique is taught in one-to-one lessons with gentle hands-on and verbal guidance. The number of lessons people have depend on their particular needs and goals.

Ben Colyer BSc(Hons)Ost MSTAT; is also an Osteopath and currently teaches anatomy and physiology to Alexander Technique teacher trainees at the Alexander Re-education Centre. (Please see also see page for Osteopaths).

Resonance Repatterning

Resonance Repatterning combines the wisdom and practices from a number of different healing modalities, such as acupuncture, polarity therapy, counselling and psychotherapy and many others. The founder, Chloe Faith Wordsworth, who Lisa was delighted to have spent time with, spent many years learning many healing approaches and on learning applied kinesiology in the 1980s realised they could all be put together with kinesiology as the link.

With the intention that this should be a system of healing to profoundly help many people Resonance Repatterning was the result. It can be a way of locating key times in a person’s life that are relevant to a problem, issue or intention and thereby getting to the core of issues and limiting beliefs fast and transforming them. Each session is bespoke and unique and often like an awe inspiring journey of transformation. I find people transform faster than with ordinary counselling and psychotherapy alone. It is possible to have one standalone session that can create profound change or to have a series of regular sessions to work through layers of more complex or entrenched issues. Lisa is a certified member of the Resonance Repatterning Practitioners Association in the US.

For more information look at:

https://www.resonancerepatterning.net/ - this is the Resonance Repatterning Institute website in the US, and although interesting, people don't always get a sense of what a session is like or what a Resonance Repatterning is from this. Humanistic Integrative Counselling and Humanistic Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy

Both are 'integrative' trainings working with the 'heart energy' of the person centred approach.  They use insights from psychodynamic and attachment approaches, the expression of creative arts, scientific understanding, with the intuitive 'transpersonal' approach as an overall unifying theme.

For child and adolescent psychotherapy Lisa is particularly taken with the 'Dan Hughes' approach to working with families to enhance attachment and relating and resolving family based issues if appropriate. http://www.danielhughes.org/

Lisa trained in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) in 2003/4, she is also trained in Ericksonian hypnosis. IShe uses these approaches within a psychotherapy session when appropriate.

This stands for Integrated Eye Movement Therapy and is the NLP equivalent of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing). This approach can be used both for releasing past trauma and stuck feelings such as grief, fear and other feelings particularly those linked to anticipated future events.

Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT – Lisa uses this too and teaches this to people individually and in groups as a very useful self-help tool. She both uses and teaches the full process including the 'gamult' method.
