What is
Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.

Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalized nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.

BSc(hons) BANT CNHC

After graduating with a degree in Psychology BSc (Hons) I worked and travelled for many years for a large multi-national company, managing globally distributed teams and dealing with major customer accounts. However, realising that my interest and passion for food and good health was not being fulfilled within a corporate environment I decided it was time for a major career change. My decision to further explore about how food can be our ‘medicine’ was made even more relevant after my husband was diagnosed 15 years ago with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The dietary changes he has made have led to a significant positive improvement in his symptoms and quality of life. Additionally, being a busy mother of two, I also came to realise the importance of a good and balanced diet for my children in order to maintain their health and energy levels.

Therefore, I made the change and studied for four years with the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London and qualified with a foundation degree in Nutritional Therapy using the functional medicine approach. This approach uses science to treat individuals as a whole, looking at all the body and its complex, inter-related processes. I am a full member of The British Association of Nutritional Therapists (BANT) and The Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am committed to maintain and further my education and attend seminars and conferences to ensure I am up to date with the latest research and practices.

I am now also offering virtual consultations via Zoom or Phone Call. Please ring 01494 864700 to arrange.

How it works

Before the consultation, you will be provided with a health and nutrition questionnaire to fill in. Once completed and returned to me I will make an initial assessment and investigate your specific conditions or concerns which you highlight. An initial consultation typically lasts 90 minutes, and in this time we will discuss any current health concerns, symptoms, family and medical history, diet and lifestyle, and current medication/supplements usage. Your individual needs will be analysed and using evidence based nutritional science and my understanding of your situation, a safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle programme will be prepared for you. If you are unsure how nutritional therapy can help you or you have any queries, please feel free to contact me to have a free discovery phone call.

Follow up consultations tend to take place after four weeks in order to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments. These typically last 60 minutes. Further follow-ups may be required depending on each individual situation.

Functional Testing is available, please contact us for further details.

Metabolic Balance

Obesity is increasing dramatically in the Western world, which leads to illness such as type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, raised blood pressure and skin conditions. Metabolic Balance® is a 4-phase weight management programme, based upon research and science to reset the body’s metabolism. Results show Metabolic Balance® has profound and lasting effects. Whilst the programme is renowned for its weight loss potential a recent study shows how effective the Metabolic Balance® programme is in not only improving weight but also blood lipids and quality of life. You can read the study here: http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jnume/2010/197656/

Based on blood analysis a Metabolic Balance® plan is specifically tailored to the client. It is an individualised health optimising programme that works by balancing hormonal production. The plan is easy to implement and adhere to.

During the 3 month programme, your Metabolic Balance® certified coach will be on hand to prepare you for what to expect during each of the four phases. During this time your coach will support and encourage you to help you achieve your health goals.

The Standard Metabolic Balance® package costs £1010 and includes all of the following:

  • Initial Assessment to see if Metabolic Balance® is right for you (cost of £25, offset against the cost of the programme should you proceed). If you do decide to go ahead, your coach will talk you through the preparatory stages, discuss your personal goals, and help you arrange your blood test.
  • Comprehensive blood test.
  • Metabolic Balance® primary consultation, your coach will discuss your individualised plan which has been produced for you based on your blood analysis. Your plan will be covered in-depth, to ensure all questions are answered and you are comfortable to begin your programme.

What our customers say

Hayley helped me to identify which foods my son was intolerant to and thus helped to manage his ADHD.  She also helped identify foods that I was intolerant of and helped make changes to my diet. This has improved my mood, weight and my sluggish head in the morning! She is friendly and professional and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

ST Amersham

After a prediabetic diagnosis from my GP I started to meet monthly with Hayley and she completely changed my life. After successfully losing three stone and no longer prediabetic seeing her was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Highly recommended

TM - Chesham

Hayley was recommended to me and although I live the other side of the country, we managed appointments remotely.  Following a very simple blood test various food were identified as being unsuitable for my system. Since then, I have had more energy and few problems with my digestive system. The test and Hayley’s advice have been life changing.  She is a lovely lady and I can’t thank her enough for the help she gave me.
